Adolescence is a vitally important time in a person’s life. During these teenage years, the brain is creating pathways that establish patterns that last far into adulthood. Experiences of anxiety, isolation, and frustration can “lock in” those ways of being for years to come, while experiences of confidence, calm, and connection can create a strong foundation for a happy, productive life.
Meanwhile, we live in a culture that is becoming increasingly stressful and contentious, especially for teenagers. While technology has opened up many opportunities, it has also created an environment that can greatly increase experiences of isolation, shame, and anxiety. It’s easy to get caught in patterns of depression, low self-worth, fear, or anger, without being able to see a way out.
Now more than ever, young adults who have the skills and abilities to navigate their emotions are far more likely to find happiness, empathy, and success in their life. Our therapists are ready to walk compassionately and honestly with teenagers on the difficult path of healing and growing.
